>I think that "hosting" an imageboard CYOA where you expect people to be present while you are posting is doomed to failure. You're better off doing the style where you post an update and then give everyone a week or so to chime in. Have a look over on /monster/ for examples of how that works.
Alright that's a valid point. I've seen how it's done on /monster/ and I'll do my best to emulate it.
>If you want to do a character creation stage, you'll need to establish the CYOA first with introductory posts that establish the world and situation, then turn it into part of the CYOA. Again, maybe have a look at /monster/ for some ideas.
Good idea, I'll start an opener right here.
You awaken in your husband’s military tent tired and sweaty. After a week on the run from Far Castle’s military force, you have made it to neutral territory. You are not alone, however. There were several military units and many veterans who are still loyal to your husband. It feels like a lifetime ago but just one year ago, your husband, the rightful prince of Far Castle, made history and defeated an invading horde of 50,000 Orcs with just 10,000 men in a far-off rural village known as Tall Tree. He and his men held out for 4 days until reinforcements arrived and routed the Orcs. Your husband had the admiration and respect of all the members in the military however he was despised by the other members of the court.
What’s more confusing is that the Higher ups are confused how the Orcs even entered the country. It was later discovered that a politician who happens to be your husband’s uncle and brother to the king order them to move. Upon this discovery, your husband’s uncle staged a coup, killing your husband’s father, the king, and installing himself as the rightful ruler. He attempted to kill your husband as well but failed after some of the hired thugs failed to respect your husband’s military prowess. However, his cowardly uncle is still in control of the military.
“My Princess! Are you finally awake? I know you’re quite tired.” Your husband opens the tent and enters with you. He brings you some food and drink. You’re quite surprised that you’re seeing fresh meat on your plate. The past week you’ve been forced to eat military rations. “I got permission from one the nearby landowners to hunt on his property. Apparently, they’ve been having boar troubles lately and needed someone to hunt the boars. I assembled a hunting party and we managed to take a few down. My men are in quite high spirits, but I wanted to know about you. How are you doing my princess?”
