Idk if this is interesting to anyone else but this is from a cc bunker thread from 2022, and I’ve read the same exact words “rise from the ashes” today. Personally I think if LC were to perma die, the hardest part would be recovering from the loss of years of archived threads. I don’t remember us migrating to so many other boards back then, either. I think CC is getting sick of us and the feeling is mutual, which sucks because they’ve always felt like sister sites to me.

Also the miku theme is so pretty. Thank you mods for letting us make another thread here.

You and a lot of other nonnies are sour towards cc right now, due to a lot of banning on their end and infighting on ours I guess. Generally there’s been a lot of migration from cc because autoban is so bad, and there are a couple of threads on their end dedicated to them generally tiring of being used as a bunker thread. Hopefully LC is back up tomorrow, admin has updated the wait time for the first time in 11 days or something like that. I think that’s about it nonnies correct me if I’m wrong. Mod here has been very generous and welcoming.

Posting her social media accounts is not doxing, connecting her social media accounts to her linkedin which reveals her real life identity probably does count as doxing depending on a sites definition. LC's current culture issue is a combination of newfags that refuse to integrate, newfag jannies that don't know what the hell they're doing, an absent admin, and all of these things combine to make a crap atmosphere.

Newfags show up from TT, Tumblr, & Twitter thinking that to use an IB, one must be Regina George, so they are needlessly vitriolic and spiteful and hateful for no reason, all while not contributing anything of importance. The newfag jannies are completely unfamiliar with IB culture and terminology, they don't know how to resolve issues because they are inexperienced so instead they just bend to the popular will; e.g., if a post is reported enough times by enough people, they will ban it regardless if it's not ban-worthy. The newfag jannies have clear favourites that they allow to shit up the board, most likely because in the private Discord group they like to post screencaps of these posts and laugh at them. Cerbmin is a completely absent admin. He does nothing of value. The most he has done is updated the catalog feature, and it took him over 6 months to do that after announcing his attention to do so. He was the administrator that let the site get hacked by idiots, and yes he LET them hack the site because he refused to fix coding issues that have been present for years. He refuses to do something as simple as a town hall. He is a repugnant stupid demon that is in way over his head. Cerbmin needs to give the site to a NEET that actually LIKES lolcor and wants to see it succeed. Then, that new admin needs to get rid of all current jannies and put out applications.

I saw a very weird and suspicious exchange between two or three anons in the previous thread, it started with an innocuous pic of a black man, someone made a cryptic reply to it, and someone else replied as if "she" knew what it meant. The other person replied "if I say it I'll get banned". Those posters sounded like they were implying something racist or scrotey, but I couldn't figure out what the fuck they were talking about. It was literally just a pic of a fit black man and it didn't look like there was anything wrong with it.

Also a zoomer and it's so hard because I'd like to date or just have a fwb to hang out with, but 99% of men my age are just too unattractive to bother. Where I live the moid trend is this weird haircut that looks like an inside out mullet and the same brands of ugly athleisure that they only get in gray, navy or black. There's very little variation because sadly men here love bullying eachother out of doing anything different (they pass it off as joking but it's very mean spirited), so pretty much all men under 30 look identical in their ugliness, like boyband members in the same uniform except unattractive. It's horrible, I feel like I need to move away to find someone I'm actually attracted to.

LoL designs can be coombaity but I think they look fine in Arcane. I saw some moids get mad at the lesbian sex scene because the characters apparently have "mannish" bodies or something
>>11654
She's based, I posted a fantasy once, if I remember correctly, in which my dream is to have a self-harming situationship with a moid that likes to hurt himself and lets me tell him that he's being an idiot before letting me tend his wounds, I like to imagine that I would pour isopropyl alcohol in the open cuts just to see him squirm and cry in pain, bonus points if he's pale and his face gets all red.
I'll be honest, if a male reads one of my femdom fantasies in the fetish threads and finds it hot, I'd actually be happy that such a male exists. Men in general are not attracted to legitimately female gaze femdom.

There will always be a supply of cows. The difference is that the expectations are a lot higher now than they were pre-2018. Really think about it, what did most of the OG cows do to deserve their cow status? It usually wasn't a lot, just being cringey online and over-sharing. Now, that's not enough anymore. The other reason is that a lot of cows are on TikTok now because that's the social platform of today, but a lot of farmerss don't use TikTok and won't go on to collect milk to share. Cows like Tophia, Daniel Larson, they had a lot of potential for really interesting and milky threads, but still they never took off.
>>11689
A lot of the times, a calf is posted in the general threads on /snow/ like e-begging, TIM/TIF, personal cows, etc., but they never breach those general threads to become cows on their own because farmers don't like new thread apparently. The amount of times I've seen "yeah she's milky but she doesn't have enough for a thread!" like... why does it matter if her thread would be slow? What is wrong with slow threads? The site's userbase used to be more homogeneous with the majority being seagulls from 4chan that were interested in cows. There was a common culture and agreement on certain issues. Now the userbase is more fragmented with oldfags from /cgl/ being in the minority. I doubt that Shaymin is Cerbmin. There's tinfoil that Burritomin was Ian and Shaymin was Burritomin. As someone that has been there since the site was founded, I don't believe any of it. All admins had clear difference in technical competence and moderation style. There's perhaps something more to the tinfoil that Shaymin was Burritomin and the difference was caused by long time farmhands quitting, which may also explain the loss of quality farmhands under Cerbmin. Cerbmin may need to rebuilt the moderation team from scratch.

>Cerbmin may need to rebuilt the moderation team from scratch.
I think that this has already happened. I get this feeling that in Nov/Dec last year, a lot of new farmhands were added to the team and they still haven't gotten used to the job. I think Cerbmin neglected to choose long-time users in favour of those that he could more easily control.

Another issue for Cerbmin is there just aren't that many oldfags left and even fewer are prepared to spend time moderating the site. I've never volunteered because I just don't have the time anymore, I spend an hour or two a day on LC and it's not worth it. I'd imagine that many of the older userbase are in the same situation.
>>11777
Cerbmin doesn't actively use the site, nor do they moderate it. They've made less than 20 posts in the past 12 months. It's very easy for jannies to go against them and do their own thing, which is part of the problem. Have you ever worked somewhere and your manager is a totally idiot and never does anything? In those situations, things fall apart quickly. That's what's happening with LCF since the tail end of Shaymin's reign, but Cerbmin exacerbated the problem.

True, but I think we have the sheer numbers to keep them from getting too loud on a dedicated board.
>>11784
It really depends how it's done. If there is a single segregated, maybe even hidden, board with strict rules about outside or moid interaction, it could work a lot better. This site isn't very active to begin with, so there's less moids to annoy us, and VPNs are banned so the rate of samefagging, bait, and infighting will naturally be lower than on LC/CC because the admin has REAL tools to combat these crimes. The biggest obstacle I'm seeing would be moderation, if it's just the Admin here, it's not fair on him or us to make him do all the work moderating. He'd have to hire some miners/farmers to do moderation work, but it might be difficult to find dedicated mods AND it might be difficult to vet mods to make sure they're honest & true farmers/miners.

>If you can [...] come up with a coherent board topic, certainly.
I hope this doesn't come across as bossy, but if you want actual suggestions for what the board for migratory farmers & miners might look like, here are my suggestions. I have thought about this for a few hours now, and I finally decided to write it down and post. Sorry if this post is long-winded and has confusing wording, it’s very late where I live and I just wanted to post this before I slept. If anyone else has any ideas or comments, please share them.

>Background info:
LC & CC are both female-only imageboards. They're similar in many ways, but different in others: both have similar cultures, but they differ in their themes. LC is a site for documenting lolcows that features a some off-topic boards, while CC is a site for casual conversations unrelated to drama. Both image boards struggle from lack of proper moderation, absent administrators, & poor quality posting. A lot of anons on both CC & LC are fed up with the issues. There are a lot more farmers than there are miners, because LC has held up better with age than CC has, so I think a specific board should be more influenced by LC culture than by CC culture. That's not to say that CC culture isn't important, but for the most part I'm writing this post from the perspective of a farmer first & a miner second. I haven't been on Junku before, but from what I've heard from the last bunker, the administration & moderation is excellent here, & in the few hours that I've spent on the site I've been impressed by the fast loading times, good site layout, & responsiveness of the administrator. I think this site actually presents a good opportunity for a migration opportunity for farmers & miners that are getting tired of the problems facing both LC & CC. I will go more in depth in this post about what issues might be found with this site, how we could alleviate those, and ideas for threads.

>Issues with this site on first look:
I haven't explored much of the site besides /shelter/, but from what I can gather this is an IB focused on pornography. Some farmers & miners might be alienated by the fact , but personally I don't really care. So this site has porn, okay, whatever. As long as porn wasn't posted in the new board for us, that wouldn't be an issue. Two communities can exist on the same site, even if they have opposing viewpoints on certain topics. Another issue that might arise is that this board, from what I can see, is very slow. From what I gather, I don't think many people are aware of this site's existence nor do many people frequent this place. This might present an issue for us because the new board may be quite slow at first, but, I do have some ideas to help mediate this problem that I will present later. The third glaring issue for many of us would be that the admin here, whom I will refer to as Webmin, is a moid. This may be a deal-breaker for some, & for others it might inspire feelings of discomfort. Personally, I don't really care. I'd rather have an administrator that is responsive & actually good at his job than an absent administrator that refuses to mingle with the user-base. My policy is: don't ask, don't tell. I don't care if Webmin runs a porn ib, because as long as we could have our own space here where we can be free to post in peace without having to be exposed to the pornography. So far, Webmin has been very responsive and seems like a kind moid. Although very rare, sometimes some moids can be okay people (historical examples include Jesus Christ, the Buddha, and Mao Zedong). I think the positives of the migration to this place would outweigh these issues, especially if the board is crafted in a specific way to foster the LC/CC way of life. The other issue I can foresee is a lack of dedicated staff; I believe Webmin is located in India, which is on the opposite side of the world from most anons. That means when he's asleep and the board isn't moderated, that's when it will be more active. Webmin has said that he improve moderation, so it's not that big of a deal; we'll have to cross the bridge when we come to it.

>How the new board for us could look:
<1. Board-specific rules that follow the LC/CC culture
I read through the global rules for this site, & I'm sure they're good for what the site is right now, but we'd definitely need more rules for the new board. I think the new rules would have to be strict at first to create a cohesive culture & to assure a smooth experience for anons migrating over. Some rules that I think could benefit this specific board are:
>A ban on creation of new threads.
I think that while the migratory community on JC is still at it's infancy stage, there should be a ban on new thread creation. Threads should be very general. The reasoning for this will be explained later in this post.
>A ban on racebaiting.
Racebaiting, at least on LC, means bringing up race or having racially-charged discussions. The reason it was banned to begin with is because the majority of time, talking about race really is just a bait topic meant to start an infight. Racebaiting in this context also refers to discussions on religion, nationality, colour, or creed. We’re on an anonymous IB, nobody should really care what colour your skin is or what God you worship.
>A ban on all NSFW content.
This would include sexually-charged comments, sexually explicit images, & other sexual content. This might seem puritanical, but I think that it would be essential for creating a comfortable environment for anons to enjoy. This is a porn ib, I get that, but surely there can be one board where NSFW is frowned upon for the comfort of its inhabitants.
>A ban on infighting, samefagging, doubleposting, a-logging, taking the bait, & other social faux pas.
I didn't see these included in the global rules, but it's a no-brainer that they'd apply to this board. Since this place bans VPNs (I assume so because I've tried many different networks, but none will allow me to post), it will actually be very easy to remove the retards. Infighting is one of the main reasons LC is so desolate now; it seems like the majority of users on the site (yet none of the honest and true users like those in these bunkers) solely post for the purpose of baiting for infights to be annoying. Infighting is so juvenile, and if you’re over the age of 20 I hope you feel the same as I do: elimination of infighting should be one of the top priorities. If you’re one of the few weirdos that enjoy infighting, you can do all that on LC with the other baiters, no judgement on you but LC (at least /ot/) is basically the infighting IB now anyway.
>No moids.
Obviously this is contradictory, with Webmin being a moid and all, but I think he should be the only moid allowed to preserve the female-oriented cultures of LC & CC. I think the biggest issue with this rule may be that Webmin might be unfamiliar with how to identify male vs. female posting habits and styles, so it might be hard for him to properly moderate this. Still, it should be advertised as a female-only board, and talking as if you were a moid should result in a ban. Revealing yourself as a moid should also be bannable.
>No talking about moids at all
I think this would be the most important rule. So many anons are tired of hearing constant moid talk on both CC & LC, whether it be complaints about nigels (this means boyfriend in our lingo, Webmin), or complaining about ugly men, or lusting after pretty men, it’s almost always: men, men, men! it's just annoying for those of us that aren’t male-centred. It would be great if this was a female-oriented board that was FEMALE-ONLY. This rule would not apply to either the Husbando Thread, or the Cows thread, which will be elaborated on later in this post. I think if we eliminated moid-talk completely, it would be beneficial for the community.
>No talking about kpop, yaoi, or yuri.
These topics always seem to bring actual retarded people that fling their shit everywhere and make everything smelly and bad. I think banning them would be for the best. They already have their own IBs focused on these topics anyway.
>Non-appealable 2-day ban for any infraction.
[NOTE: I have not been banned here yet, I’m not sure what the moderation even looks like yet, this is just what I think would be a good way to go about it.] This might seem harsh, but I think it’s really necessary to have long, non-appealable bans. To create a positive environment that is enjoyable for users, bans should be harsher than on LC. Usually on LC, bans last anywhere from 3-24 hours. Most people evade these bans immediately through use of VPN, but thankfully it seems like VPNs are banned on this site. I think that if a player receives a 2-day ban, it will cut down on the any rule breaking anons by a lot. I also think that after a few times, it should just end with a personal ban. The whole reason LC & CC went to shit is because administration and staff refuse to gatekeeper the sites, they don’t protect the culture, and they don’t have any real tools to punish rule-breakers. At a certain point, it becomes obvious that certain users are just retarded: they’ll never change their annoying infighting ways and they’ll never become valuable community member:

<2. Generalized Threads over Niche Threads
I think the main problem with CC is that the threads are a bit too specific. Since CC is a slower board with less traffic, what ends up happening is there are hundreds of threads with super specific themes that have 1-10 replies each. It makes the website seem more dead than it actually is, because everyone is spread thin across a wide area. If we could have generalized threads with broad topics, they would most likely move faster and get more traction. Since the community is still small here, it would be better for us to coalesce in a few threads for now so that the speed of the board isn’t compromised.
Some ideas for threads could include:
>Dumbass Shit
A free for all thread that functions as a general chatroom thread. There is no specific theme for the thread; a place to post when your post doesn't fit anywhere else. I assume it would be very similar to how this thread feels now.
>Husbando Posting
A thread for anons to post & gush about their husbandos. Following the rules against 3DPD, only 2D husbandos will be allowed. Following the board rule against NSFW, no super sexual content should be posted about husbandos either. IMO, the anons that go crazy sexual for their husbandos in the threads on LC are doing so for attention & that shouldn't be encouraged here. There are lots of ways to gush about your husbando without it becoming gross & sexualized.
>Vent & Advice
A place for anons to vent their emotions, problems, or life difficulties & for others to comfort them. Asking for advice & giving advice are very similar thematically, so it makes sense they'd go in the same thread.
>General Print Media
A place for anons to discuss anything related to print media: this includes books, comics, manga, visual arts, etc..
>General Moving Media (I don’t know what to call it besides “moving” media my mind is pulling a blank)
To compliment the print thread, this one would be for anons to discuss anything that's 'moving' media, i.e., anime, movies, television shows, youtube videos, video games, etc.
>Hobbies & Interests
A place for anons to discuss anything related to their hobbies or interests. There are a wide array of hobbies and interests, but on CC/LC, they’re often separated into different threads (i.e., an arts and crafts thread, a drawing thread, a poetry thread, etc.), but I think having them all in one thread would be just as good.
>Health, Wellness, & Beauty
A thread for discussing the namesake: anything related to physical & mental health, nutrition, fitness, skincare, or makeup.
>Music
A thread for posting song lyrics, sharing songs, talking about instruments or music.
>LC & CC Hate
Obviously, in the beginning anons will be using JC alongside LC & CC. A LC & CC hate thread would allow anons to vent their frustrations with their respective IBs in a judgment-free zone, free of jannylovers or adminapologists. Talking about shared enemies could be a good bonding exercises for a lot of the jaded farmers and miners that find this board, specifically because the LC Hate thread on CC is one of their most popular threads.
>General Cows
A generalized thread for people to post all cows in. Let's face it: there are not many real cows left anymore. Most of the cows on LC that are super popular are dry as hell, & the only reason they're still discussed is because certain spergs have a neurotic hate-obsession with them. Having 1 thread for all cows might seem confusing at first, but I think after a period of adjustment it will be good. It might be a bit hard to read, so maybe a rule specific for this thread could be that we'd use the name function to tag which post is which cow. I.e., if I wanted to post milk from PT, I'd write "PT" in the name tag. If I was replying to that milk post with a non-contribution comment, I'd just leave the name blank & sage. I doubt that thread will ever compare to the cow boards on LC, but this board doesn’t really have to be for cows, but it might be fun to have a thread for them here anyway, it would be a good place to scope out calfs too. I envision that this board would simply take the place of CC, and /ot/, /g/, and /m/ on LC, but LC’s cow boards would still be used for cow discussion, naturally, as there’s more history on that site.
>Talk to Webmin Thread
Webmin seems very kind, and so far he seems very responsive to anons inquiries and concerns. It would be a good idea to have a thread on the board so that we can easily communicate issues, suggestions, or questions without having to him without leaving the board. On the flip side, it’d be good to have a place where Webmin can post for us to see directly in case of announcements or other important messages.
>A sticky thread with replies turned off listing the specific board rules.

<3. How would this board be disseminated?
This is probably one of the harder questions that I’m not really sure the answer to. You ever notice that during these bunkers, the threads are always so happy and jovial? Save for the few random spergs that show up now and then, these bunker threads are always so fun. I think part of the reason for this is because not many people know about these bunker thread sites, or at least, most of the more annoying, manipulative, retards that spend day and night infighting in Unpopular Opinions don’t know about these threads. This is a good thing. I already saw someone post about this site on the CC bunker thread on LC, which is a good example of why we need to express caution when doing so. There are other more discreet ways for sharing this site (i.e., sharing with friends you met from Friend Finder, sharing with the Moovie Night Ladies, etc.,) rather than posting it directly to LC or CC. Doing that would make it so much easier for the social undesirables to find us, but, the good news about this is that +VPNs seem to be banned here.+ I cannot express how much of a game-changer that is. We won’t have to deal with annoying ban evaders for months on end; the Webmin can just banish the annoying fuckers.

>>11771
>If you can keep a thread going for a few days...
This is the thing: I think you'd have to set a board up beforehand, and create those threads (including some that other anons suggest, I'm sure there's a few ideas that I missed), only then would people really come here. It's like we're rats and you have to lure us in with a really good piece of cheese. I understand that that's a lot to ask, but I'm just being realistic. You'd have to create at least the framework for what we could become.

<Again, sorry for the long post!
I just seriously started thinking about this because the past year has been such a shit show on /ot/. It's been a shitshow on CC for way longer. This is the first site that I came across that actually has a responsive administrator that seems to want to welcome new users. Sorry for the sperg out! I just needed to say it or else I would have regretted it.

This is a great post. I know some anons have been talking about this over the past year or so, but I don't know if anything is actually being done to organize a new board. I feel the need desperately. I can't stand being on lc anymore. The constant aggression is exhausting, it's impossible to just exist on /ot/ as an active poster without being thrown into infights over every little thing. I am not a lurker by nature, I want to engage, but it's just not fun anymore. I used to have so much affection for nonas and now I feel so angry whenever I use the site.

Tbh it's kind of shitty that you don't want anons to hornypost their 2D husbandos, we should be allowed to post spoilered porn of them since we can't do that on LC. Just hide the thread if you don't like it.
Plus we would need as well a 3D husbando thread so 2D only yumes don't have to see 3DPDG moids.

I wouldn't worry about that; frank discussions have to happen to get this off the ground.

>LC & CC administration and moderation issues
From what I've seen after spending a little time lurking both sites is that both sites have robust moderation teams, but their enforcement of their rules is inconsistent and frustrating for posters. Also, CC seems to have a problem with being a lightning rod for raiders and trolls, and the staff seems to have difficulty with stopping spam and illegal content before it’s posted. Administration on CC appears to be absent, while LC's administration is appropriately present as far as imageboards go, but they seem to be unwilling to make changes to the site to resolve issues that trouble posters.
I'd like to believe I administrate this site competently, and I'm always willing to take feedback. On the other hand, my moderation method is very hands-off, which may not be what this community wants.

<Junkuchan's issues
>Porn
NSFW and SFW boards should be able to coexist here, we've been doing this for ages. I'm glad we're in agreement here.
>Gender
This will be a deal-breaker for some in the community. With a bit of luck most posters won't care, hopefully?
>Staff
This is where a strong, community-approved board owner comes in. She'll have to accept thanklessly doing it for free for a community she'll have to build up with little support while wrestling with spammers and potentially raiders. Doing community management right isn't easy.

<Board Rules
These will be entirely up to the BO. I usually don't step into /cuckquean/'s business unless global rules are being violated. Having said that, too many rules might strangle activity on the board from the start. Personally, I would only implement rules that are essential to the board culture you're trying to cultivate and implement more rules when things start to become a problem. Since you intend to limit thread creation, perhaps you could have a few strictly necessary board rules, and make things stricter for specific threads? That way you could have horny and non-horny husbando threads next to a health and wellness thread. CSS magic could be used to hide threads people don't want to see, too.

<Staff
I'll be blunt about it: someone who is already in the community, not an outsider like me, will need to step up and volunteer as a board owner before a board is made. I'll absolutely help her out in any way I can, but she'll have to be the one that builds that community up from zero. It's a huge ask with a lot of potential, and that's why I'm hesitant to gen a board and tell random lurkers to 'go nuts'.

<VPNs
VPNs aren't actually banned, but I do block them when they're abused by spammers that threaten the site's existence. Tor works, though!

>>11799
Agreed, I think marking the thread as NSFW and using some CSS to hide it from posters who don't want to see it should be sufficient.

I'm the AYRT.
The reason I think a ban on NSFW content would be beneficial is because there's an open secret on LC that a lot of the sexual-themed threads are frequented by moids. Threads like the Fetishes, Ideal Bodies, even the TMI one, these are the threads that I've seen discussed before by moids outside LC. I can guess why the sexual content beckons them. I think by limiting NSFW topics, we could also limit the amount of moid-infltration. Once again, these were just my ideas, so even if NSFW is banned on the board, maybe the Husbando Posting thread could allow NSFW discussion (even illustrated pornography) to make the hubandofags happy.
>We would need a 3d husbando thread
This is the one I fundamentally disagree with. Having 3DPD moids would only cause issues like it has on LC. The Ugly Man Psyop (UMP) thread is a great example of this; it was created by an annoyed anon that didn't like the type of moids talked about by other anons on the 3DPD thread (& other /g/ moid-centred threads too), so she created a thread on /ot/ for other shitting on them. So in essence, she created another thread where the only theme is "post and talk about men." Talking about moids is so frustrating because a lot of us use LC (and to a lesser extent, CC) for the female-companionship aspect, and becaue it's one of the few places on the web where men are explicitly not welcomed. So many posters on LC & CC are turned off by the constant moid-centric mindsets of others posters, and honestly a lot of threads on LC are just dedicated threads to gush and sperg about moids. The reason the "no talking about moids" rule can exist alongside a Husbando thread is because they're pictures of moids, not actually real moids: it's different. I don't want to sound biased against yumes with 3D husbandos, but if they want to do that they can use the LC thread, it shouldn't be allowed here for the aforementioned reasons.

>>11797
I'm like you: I really like going on LC not because of cows anymore, but because it's a place where I can talk with other women about stuff that might not be acceptable on other platforms. There is a serious lack of places online that centre women. I care about some cows, and I frequently use the cow boards on LC, but a lot less frequently than I did when I first joined the site. As time has gone on, it's become increasingly clear that the majority of anons on LC don't actually care about cows, even the ones that frequent the cow boards! On cow boards, almost all discussion of new cows is immediately banned or suppressed in favour of nitpicking Shay for the billionth time. I don't think the LC Admins (besides Ian, ironically) have ever used the site enough to actually understand the needs of the user-base. Every admin does stupid retarded stuff that nobody likes.

>>11796
>The constant aggression is exhausting
This is why I think long and non-appealable bans should be the norm. It's obvious that the culture of LC has been changing for a long time, even before this year. I remember during the pandemic, there were a lot of newfags, but they used to just be ignorant of board culture, not downright aggressive and crude. It seems like the newfags now are just constantly angry and want to try and bring everyone down with them. These same aggressive posters are also the ones that abuse VPNs: if you want to see what I mean, just go look at the Amerifag threads. Around the election time, VPNs were blocked in that thread, and the amount of infighting and baiting plummeted. It was shocking to see because then it begs the question "why aren't more VPN serviced blocked on threads that generate constant infighting and baiting?"
>I want to engage, but it's just not fun anymore
I suffer from the same feelings. The general atmosphere on LC is really aggressive and abusive now. If you bring it up, you're dogpiled by anons that joined in 2022 saying "oh it was always this bad," but of course they don't know the actual history of the site. They use the excuse that because LC is based on laughing at lolcows, that it means it's okay to be abusive to other anons. New flash for them: we are supposed to make fun of the cows and laugh at their antics, not alog them, and we especially aren't supposed to alog each other. That's why I think punishing & banning infighters/baiters should be the top priority for any board that tries to replace LC.

>>11801
>VPNs aren't actually banned, but I do block them when they're abused by spammers that threaten the site's existence. Tor works, though!
Sorry for my mistake, I have two VPN services and I kept getting blocked from posting no matter which network I tried, so I just assumed they were banned. But then, if they were banned I wouldn't have been able to access the website at all, so I confused my terminology. Either way, I do think that VPNs should be completely blocked from the board. Just like you said, it's mostly people that want to abuse VPNs anyway. On LC, so much annoyance could be avoided if only VPNs were blocked site-wide.
>while LC's administration is appropriately present as far as imageboards go, but they seem to be unwilling to make changes to the site to resolve issues that trouble posters.
It's so much more than this. Mods have been known to stalk anons in the past across the boards to bait them into infighting while posting without their handle, to release IP addresses of anon's that they disagree with, abuse the ban feature to ban anons for silly reasons (once an anon was banned for 6 months with a snippy ban-reason just for saying in jest that she should take a 6 month break), take sides during infights to punish only the anons they disagree with instead of both infighters, have favourites that are never banned regardless of how many rules they break, etc., etc.. While mods on CC are almost completely absent, mods on LC are well-hated by the majority of users for very good reasons IMO. Staffing would probably be the most difficult problem to solve on a new thread, but it's definitely do-able with determination.

At the moment visitors running blocked VPNs can lurk, but they cannot post, that's probably what you experienced. With a bit of effort I could tweak how VPNs are handled on a per-board basis, but I don't think would-be lurkers would feel safe navigating to this (admittedly) strange imageboard without their VPN shield up.
>Mods
Staff members here aside from myself cannot see complete IPs, and anyone who leaks a poster's IP address (masked or not) will be removed from staff. A brand new board like this would only need a BO and maybe one more staff member if it somehow takes off immediately.

Give me a volunteer to be a board owner and a board name that isn't a jumbling of one or two letters and we can spin something up for a test. Also, to any lurkers, are there any unique features you'd like to see on such a board? Making it hidden might be fun to do.

Yeah my biggest issue with LC that has sent me lurking here is the suppression of newer cows. If you try and boost their threads, it’s like the mods do not want you to interact. The rules are weirdly strict with new cows, but then there’s no moderation for self posts in /snow; and they stay up for hours sperging.
>>11806
I'm the AYRT.

I don't think you should get rid of the VPN block, that's one of the best features of this site. The refusal to block VPNs is actually one of the major grips that a lot of farmers have with current LC administration. There are several well-known personalityfags that depend on their VPNs to continuously evade bans and continue sperging for hours and hours, until finally one of the over-worked moderators have to camp in threads that they frequent to manually delete their posts until they get bored. It's sort of an open secret that some of the most blatant baiters and infighters use VPNs to avoid punishment too. I also think VPN blocking is important because I would assume that it helps deter gore/CP/illegal stuff spam.

>Give me a volunteer to be a board owner
I would volunteer myself, but I don't really know a lot about imageboard management, so maybe I wouldn't be the greatest asset. Even though I've been using LC & CC (and a few other chans) for almost a decade, I've only ever been a poster and I still don't know a lot about how it would be like to run one. Even though I'm on IBs for 8+ hours every day, I still don't think I'd be able to handle the spam and raiders like you mention in this post >>11801, maybe it would affect me too badly to see constant gore or CP. I'm not sure how it's handled on this site, but I know that LC has really advanced anti-CP and gore detection going on after a tech upgrade sometime last year, I'm not sure if you have something similar here. If someone does volunteer, how would that look? Would you ban us and then write an email contact or Discord username on the ban page for us to contact? That's the only way I could think of about how it would be done privately.

>a board name
This is the hardest part, kek. I was thinking /pasture/ because there's a recurring joke on LC about being sent to the pastures when an anon is banned, so maybe it would be tongue-in-cheek that a board designed to replace LC would be named that. Maybe that might be a little LC-centric, but there's a lot more farmers than miners anyway. Maybe more anons can speak up and suggest names.

>Making it hidden might be fun to do.
This would probably be a good idea. People on Kiwifarms, LC, and CC are already discussing this site and what's going to happen with the new board. Interestingly, posts about it on KF and CC stay up, but the 2 posts I've seen about it on LC were deleted after less than 2 hours. I've only seen those 2 posts, I'm not sure how many more were made, if any.

I will say, I think right now it might be a waiting game. I think if we really want to make a board, it should be done ASAP but remain hidden (and maybe locked if that's possible) until the next time LC goes down. I don't think a lot of anons will bother to check this board while LC & CC remain up, so they won't be inclined to stick around and post on the board either. But, if they were to come here during an outage and realize a board framework was already set up for them, they might be more interested in staying.

Good morning!

I doubt we'll see a volunteer that already has experience with managing or moderating an imageboard, so I'd never consider it to be a mandatory requirement for a new board. Spam mostly hits /origin/ when they occasionally manage to get through our blocks and filters, other boards rarely see it, and I get it cleaned up quickly. If LC is using Cloudflare to detect and block CSAM/gore, then we won't be able to utilize it here, but we do have methods to detect known bad media to stop unsophisticated raiders and spammers. You've got more than enough experience with imageboards, if you have the time and you're willing to give it a shot I'd be comfortable with giving you the BO role. I pick up volunteers on a case-by-case basis, tripcodes work well for this sort of thing but I can also identify them with their IP address. Reach out to me on Session or via email with your IP address somewhere in the body of the message, here's how you can contact me (and how you can find your IP):
https://junkuchan.org/faq.html
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=what+is+my+IP
I don't use Discord and I don't want to encourage its use.

>board name
/pasture/ or /pastures/ would be great in my mind; I'm partial to unique, single-word board names. That would work well for plugging the board and making people aware of its existence without outright spamming a link where it'd probably be inappropriate. Making it less LC-centric would promote a unique board identity for would-be posters, but keeping it cow-themed wouldn't hurt too much, probably?

>off-site discussion
I can't say I'm surprised links and discussion are getting scrubbed on LC. Imageboard staff tend to get sore about getting their community siphoned off to some other oddball site. It doesn't help that countless, shitty imageboards start their journey off by spamming links on more popular IBs.

>timing
I'll have to agree that this will be a waiting game or at least a slow burn. Both farmers and miners seem to be mostly comfortable with what they have, which makes starting up a new board that much harder. Another outage would work well to kick off a new board, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for one. It doesn't hurt to try if we've got all the elements required. Idle thought, but setting up and opening a board now could work if we can host discussions that aren't allowed on LC nor CC. Also, I'm sure I'll have to set aside some time to make sure things like red text and trigger words(?) work as expected.

but why are they bullying a cute girl?

not really
coombait needs to at least have cute girls in it
arcane only has cute boys

>the administration & moderation is excellent here
its honestly depressing how many ppl arent used to having an admin that isnt hellbent on policing everything that gets posted
but ig this type only really exists in tiny obscure ibs, so it tracks
>I've been impressed by the fast loading times, good site layout
not using bloated shitware goes a long way in making a site usable tbh
i like how jschan still has functional backquotes even with js disabled
somehow this is an impossible feat for other engines
what do LC and CC use to run their boards?
i cant really check myself bc the sites are uber cuckflared, cant even lurk
>farmers and miners
i see the farmers are cow girls, but what is used to represent the miners?
>this is an IB focused on pornography
huh
yk, it makes sense now that you mention, but i never thought about it before
maybe its bc i used to only come here to jeffpost
but yea even the old /robo/ board was just ppl lusting after cold dead metal
and the old secret bunker for that other community was also porn focused
but /origin/ is kind of a mixed bag tbh
i think the porn dump threads are only "popular" bc they take zero effort to contribute to
but even then those threads are dead
except for the feet thread, but thats bc i make sure to bump it every now and then
i like to know that newfags coming here are forced the reckon the superiority of feet
>Another issue that might arise is that this board, from what I can see, is very slow.
thats a feature tbh
and prolly the reason the admin is so chill
everyone will turn toxic and dysfunctional when overworked
>the admin here is a moid
where do ppl even find this out?
considering that every other community that had asylum here was female-oriented, id assoome her to be a woman
be it as it may, you can go ask the cuckqueans how they like being under a male's dominion
wait on second thought, they might be sussy to talk
>I believe Webmin is located in India
i also dk where this information was dug up from, i just see it being repeated
>1. Board-specific rules that follow the LC/CC culture
fucking hell, the new board doesnt even exist yet and you're already going full fash on it?
lay the fuck back for a minute, holy shit, this is why all ibs suck these days, mfs start their communities already cucked by 1000 rules
i think small ibs are as comfy as they are precisely bc they only have the bare minimum of rules
isnt the lack of post micromanagement the reason you liked junku so much?
have you considered taking advantage of the obscurity of this site to only create new rules when they prove absolutely necessary, instead of preemptively ruining fun?
>I've tried many different networks, but none will allow me to post
just use the onion smh
>how to identify male vs. female posting habits and styles
i have no idea what this schizo talk is about
whenever i go shitpost on 'female-only' ibs, i just write normally and nobody says anything
hell, even when i write like a retard (like this) ppl still dont say anything
in fact, i have already been told this writing style is endearing, which means ill be writing like this for the foreseeable future
>complaints about nigels, or complaining about ugly men, or lusting after pretty men, it’s almost always: men, men, men!
can it really be helped tho?
idk if you ever been to the boy zone, but its the same shit
except genderbent
every thread has a 50% chance to be just bitching and moaning about muh femoids
yea its p annoying, but it prolly makes more sense to go after inane drivel as a whole instead of just 1 specific brand if you wanna maintain quality
but then again, is the CoF (cost of fun) worth it?
i imagine women have as much fun complaining about men as men have about women
>This might seem harsh, but I think it’s really necessary to have long, non-appealable bans.
or you could just talk it out?
im one to shitpost a lot, but even i had to relent after the cuckquean BO scolded me
now i only shitpost on her board on occasion
and im considerate enough to pretend to be a girl while doing it
even tho her bans would do nothing to stop me
idk what kind of ultraschizos you have to deal with, but i like to think even ib users can be reasoned with
oh wait i just remembered you come from a lolcow farm ahahaahahaha nvm the above, god have mercy on the BO dealing with alogs running amok
i have seen 1st hand what happens when a nolife schizo takes an interest on your site
no amount of banning, vpn blocking and anal captchas can save you from a highly motived spammer
esp when theyre doing it for attention
then again, you could take the smolpill
i think communities only turn to shit when there are way too many ppl, to the point that getting them to behave like civilized beings becomes impossible
not shilling your site everywhere and getting niggers in is the best form of gatekeeping tbh
its more efficient to stop ppl from coming in than trying to make them get out
and reduces the chance of being spotted by raving madmen
btw have you ever given thought to the idea of a close community, that can only be joined by those explicitly invited?
yea its pm impossible for it to be anonymous, so it only makes sense in very specific situations
>To create a positive environment that is enjoyable for users, bans should be harsher than on LC.
<beatings will continue until morale improves
>2. Generalized Threads over Niche Threads
i agree with the point here, i think more specific topics only make sense when you have enough ppl that a considerable enough number of them would be interested in something niche
which is why i find it weird when a new ib starts out with 10 different boards
like, who tf is the target audience for those???
the natural course should be to start with generals and let them organically split off into more narrow threads as ppl show actual interest on it
here on junku the opposite happened
the /robo/ board was so dead that it got merged back into /origin/
>You ever notice that during these bunkers, the threads are always so happy and jovial?
>part of the reason for this is because not many people know about these bunker thread sites
yes
and the other part is bc the admin doesnt have a phonebook of rules and an itchy ban finger
dont ruin it
>It's like we're rats and you have to lure us in with a really good piece of cheese.
i wasnt gonna say anything, but since you put it like that, maybe this is the reason your community is crumbling
seriously, 2 different sites down at the same time?
also isnt this like the 3rd time you come here seeking /shelter/?
who is running this shit and why arent more ppl trying to create other alternatives
the community im from used to have 3 backup sites at one point (on top of the main one), and we still have a chatroom and ppl used to make personal sites (now mine is the only one left)
despite 3 migrations, several disasters, and losing a lot of ppl along the way, the core community is still kicking
it will be a cold day in hell when everything disappears at the same time and we have to go to a place hosted by an outsider
is your community really entirely composed of leeches with no intention of putting in the effort to maintain it?
damn, that gotta suck

As a farmer and former miner I disagree with you on some points anon, I think establishing so many rules at the start will make the board dead and it will be a problem and introducing so many new rules immediately will be confusing and drive away many anons, we should make them as we go along, LC didn't need to copy /cgl/ rules and CC didn't need to ctrl+c ctrl+v LC's rules either.
LC is suffering from overmoderation with powertripping mods, with shit like banning that anon who posted two separate pictures of twins on pokemon thread for "personalityfagging" and banning a doubleposter for "samefagging", not to mention the times there is also little communication with the admins, CC also has a problem with the autoban and no communication too, introducing to many rules might make JC bunker like those other two.
>No yaoi/yuri/kpop
As much as I agree we should let the board exist for a while before we ban yuri and yaoi, the threads were fine until the fandom threads started stirring the shit, I think we should ban fandom threads/drama instead since they bring shitstirring newfags and wait to see if they chill out first before a definitive ban on those topics.
However no talking about 3D men is almost impossible to enforce and we wouldn't get threads like historical lolcows with that rule, I think those simp threads are the worst threads and create tons of infighting but it would be too stifling, there are many men on our real lives and on the public consciousness, can anons not discuss a book author because he was male? What about liking a moid's movies? Forget it anon, just have a bechdel thread and a containment talk about your irl men thread.
>>11801
>Gender
I think you should ban obvious creeps and "as a male" derailers, you can't verify who is what in an anonymous imageboard, but you should ban moids who spam porn and shit like "you whores", bait and derail. That's most nonnies mean by banning maleposters anyways.

Hello Webmin,

I'm still thinking about it. Sorry it's taking me so long to reach out to you, but as you can imagine this decision is a big one for me, so I want to take some time to think it over so that my decision will be the right one. I will reach out to you via email by the end of this weekend. I hope that nobody emails you pretending to be me, but I trust that you'll be able to discern any fakers.

>>11823
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Sorry if this post isn't well-worded, I wrote it quickly before my break ended.

>I think establishing so many rules at the start will make the board dead
My reasoning for this is that I believe we'd have to "set the stage" for what is to come. I think that in the beginning, we have to cultivate the sort of space that we desire. If we're harsh on rules in the beginning, it will help set the standard for the culture that follows. Maybe these rules could be relaxed over time. I'm not especially worried about a dead board. Really, I envision this hypothetical board to be more of a stepping stone. Not to be a doomer, but I don't think LC is going to last forever, and I really think that Cerbmin will be the last administrator of the site. I think it would be wise to create a place for us to go before shit hits the fan.

>LC is suffering from overmoderation with powertripping mods
For me, it seems like the main issue is that the moderators are new to IBs and unfamiliar with LC's culture. They don't seem to have a strong grasp on the rules. It's also been confirmed that moderators post without their tags to cause and stoke infights.

I think that their moderation tools are outdated and useless. The biggest problem with LC is that there is a small population of dedicated trolls that abuse VPNs, and because administration is hesitant to block VPNs, the moderators are powerless to stop the trolls. I think that's why the VPN block on this website is so important. I'm not sure how I feel about this site being accessible to those on a TOR browser.

>However no talking about 3D men is almost impossible to enforce.
I disagree, but regardless, these are all hypothetical rules. The no moid talk rule would be relaxed in certain threads like the lolcow general thread.

>I think we should ban fandom threads.
>A containment "talk about your irl men" thread.
I agree. I think that a Moid Hate thread would be very useful, it seemed like LC got way worse after pinkpill and moid hate threads were no longer allowed on /ot/. I think that fandom drama should stay on LC too, since you're right in that the fandom thread seems to bring in a lot of underage Twitter people. Maybe dedicated yaoi and yuri threads would be fun for users.

>You can't verify who is what in an anonymous imageboard.
This is true in some ways, but false in other ways. Banning all males and suspected males would be a key feature of this new hypothetical board.

Even though I didn't use the Dumbass Shit thread a lot, I don't understand Cerbmin's hate-boner for it at all. So what if some anons want to shitpost? It's better that there's a dedicated thread for it, so that way it can be contained to just one thread instead of all the threads. If you read my OP (>>11791), you can see that I did include Dumbass Shit as one of the thread ideas. If a board is made, a shitposting thread would be included.

There's a great post on CC in the LC Hate Thread that elaborates on the autosage and how it was a failure.

NTA but I agree, you have no idea how many times I've reported obvious trolls looking to start an infight between fujos, yumes, yurifags, or whatever, and either the poster takes a while to be banned, the poster is banned but the post stays up (allowing anons to keep replying to it and then the sperg shows up again to reply to them) or isn't banned/deleted. Any attempt to start drama between anons should be banned and deleted on sight. And it should be obvious which is which because those posters are always aggressive and confrontational out of nowhere.

Let me clarify that the reason I use a VPN on LC is because I just don't trust the mods and admins. We all know how petty they can be and how new they must be to imageboards, and on a community dedicated to drama, chances are that one of them could target you for any retarded reason. Not only have past administrations revealed post histories of well-known cows, but I've even seen mods in this administration tell someone on /meta/ "we have your device name, retard" or something along those lines. That just doesn't inspire confidence in the mods. I feel less likely to be targeted for the occasional dumb post or pissing a mod off on 4chan due to the sheer number of users there, but also on other altchans because their mods are less interested in online drama or whatever it is I want to talk about. Of course they also get involved in drama but usually only when it's related to their own community and interests, which is normal, I've seen it happen myself and it was a huge and a disaster, but not once did I feel like I was going to have my post history exposed by them because I had nothing to do with their internal drama.

But on the other hand, I understand why it's necessary to ban VPN posting. Raiders, spammers, moids, and known autistic shitposters who ban evade cannot be stopped unless VPNs are banned. And frankly it's been getting so bad lately that I'm willing to wait however long is necessary until they get bored and fuck off, and hopefully get over their LC dopamine addiction and forget about it. But if VPNs are banned forever, then I guess I'll just have to make my own imageboard once and for all.

so many of these small web communities seem to have staff members who dig *way* too deep into posters' data for me to trust them with my home IP. I've always been paranoid someone's compiling all of my posts and sharing them with their besties on Discord, I'd rather not give them the opportunity in the first place.
Users are absolutely justified on wanting to use VPNs. It’s been well known that farmhands on LC leak people’s IPs, dox them, reveal extensive post histories only to really humiliate them, etc. I wouldn’t trust any website with my location and data so VPN-banning is an extremely retarded opinion. We’re slowly shifting into this weird momentum of the internet where more normies are starting to use and they want to apply real-world etiquette and rules to a place that doesn’t have real-world etiquette so normies are slowly encouraging companies to smaller websites (like LC) to start tone policing, helicopter modding, micromanaging, etc. and think being mean on the internet should have moderate to severe consequences like it would IRL. Anonymity and privacy is revoked in real life despite what many people say, our lives are constantly surveyed, especially women’s, so at least the illusion of anonymity which these imageboards bring is something that should always be considered and preserved at all costs. I think “race-baiting” rule is super flimsy and subjective, I think you can have adult high-quality posting about racial matters without it becoming 4chan /pol/-tier shit flinging and race wars being played out. I think women are much more capable of having interesting discussions without having to be handheld, patronized and micromanaged to the the highest extent while other places where males occupy barely get this same moderation and attention which makes me very suspicious imo. The one thing I really, really hate about women-oriented imageboards is just the tone-policing, apparently women aren’t supposed to express our anger, frustration, annoyance, and aggression unlike males and this somehow is being reinforced through something anonymous like these types of websites which makes me feel like there really is no place where women can be themselves without having to constantly hold down their feelings and their opinions. That’s my gripe with these kinds of ideas of a “speshul imageboard for women only” because of anonymity it gives males the luxury to cosplay and larp as women and gives them much ample time and space to occupy our spaces without any damage being down to their own spaces which takes up 99% of the entire internet, women should be allowed a space to criticize and talk shit about males without getting bechdel-test redtexted for hating them. I think there should be a perfect balance, you can have your rules and moderation but don’t go too far into creating a stereotypical hugbox where you just do the same thing people do IRL to women which is just shut them down, shut them up and classify them as hysterical and crazy for staying opinions and daring to be angry. This is never addressed whenever these convos are started, nobody acknowledges the entire internet space caters to males and the reason why that is is because it’s cost effective and easy for males to accelerate their misogyny and porn-philia at an unprecedented rate unlike real life where politics are actually materially applied to our lives and social etiquette and morality must be at least pretended to be followed. I wish there was an entirely different internet for women, imageboards for women won’t solve this elephant in the room issue is that we are very small fish in a very huge pond of males that can pretty much do whatever they want and nobody bats an eye while we’re trying to protect and defend the very little spaces we have which is also costing user experience and high user activity.

This is one of the concerning issues with a VPN ban on LC. If you have a static IP, every post you've ever made on the site is viewable with one click in the mod dashboard. Even if it's a dynamic IP, all IP addresses will be in the same range. Image boards are not secure and they're supposed to be ephemeral. Nearly every other image board purges threads once they fall of the last page of the board index.

I'm not suggesting that Cerbmin or the farmhands are going to use this information maliciously. LC has always archived it's own content and events such as intentional IP reveals that aren't cows are rare and are usually the result of a farmhand going rogue. It becomes a problem because if an attacker gains entry to the site's data, all of this information is easily available.

I am doing the same. I turned VPN off to make a few posts, but honestly I am regretting it now. I didn't include personal info really, but just the idea of it is unsettling. I spent years as a full- time lurker and if VPN ban stays in effect, I'll either go back to doing that or just leave LC all together, maybe popping into the Moovie Room from time to time. As posters like >>11857 have said, there are too many privacy concerns not to use VPN, especially if you have a niche hobby and can be identified/narrowed down based on that and location and other posts you may have made.

You could use a secure browser on either that limits browser fingerprinting. https://coveryourtracks.eff.org/ this website can test it. I use FREE browser on android (https://f-droid.org/packages/org.woheller69.browser/). Remember IP usually only gives the general location, so make sure not to talk about identifying information like what you do for work or anything like that. On my mobile data, I usually get way incorrect locations.

Also it looks like some smaller VPNs aren't being blocked from what some nonnies are saying.

The imageboard software that they use allows mods/admins to see a poster's hostname. They've bragged about this before, see:
>>11839
>I've even seen mods in this administration tell someone on /meta/ "we have your device name, retard"
I've tested this myself by installing vichan on my computer, there's an option to store poster hostnames. I think LC is using a modified version of Tinyboard, but I've also heard that it's a combination of Tinyboard and vichan. In any case, regardless of which is true, if a mod really said that, then yes, it's likely that they can see hostnames.

Though I'm still too tech illiterate to know if that means your computer's hostname or your ISP-assigned external IP's hostname kek (though why would they say "device" if it were the hostname of the external IP?). I'd like to have my own imageboard for testing purposes, but I don't even know where to start with getting my own website.

Also, always browse on Incognito each time you visit LC to avoid being identified by your cookies (which is how they got some self-posting cows such as Kiki).
Replies: >>11877
>>11876
If you’re hosting vichan on one of your machines, you could try accessing it with another machine on your local network. Actually, I’ll try it and let you know.

Seeing the hostname (that’s the nodename of the device) isn’t unusual, it’s some of the information that a secure browser will prevent being exposed.

Even with a secure browser, you may still have some unique javascript characteristics. That can be things like user agent (your browser, operating system, and versions of both), time zone, screen size (can identify what sort of device you’re using, if you have a weird shaped monitor it can be identifying), etc. You can check all of that with the EFF tool linked above which has a breakdown of what might be exposed. For best privacy, turning off cookies and javascript is most effective, but even then it’s possible to have some fingerprinting and tracking. Turning off javascript breaks nearly everything, just to make you aware.

One of the biggest reasons I’m against the VPN ban is for ISP snooping. I’m less worried about my IP being in a data breech, because my IP location is way off, anyway. I’m more concerned about my ISP blocking lolcow or recording the information I post online, and that’s why I use a VPN. It’s a valid concern and not paranoid. A comcast employee was one of DarkSydePhil’s alogs and was screwing with his internet. Yeah, none of us are DSP, but it’s semi likely for some ISP wagie to get offended by scrote and troon hate.
Replies: >>11878 >>11920

I installed vichan and accessed it from a few different machines. All I could see was the IP upon banning them, so I’ll assume all claims of being able to see hostnames is just scare tactics and social engineering. I’m seeing some comments saying lolcow doesn’t use vichan at all and uses lynxchan instead.
Replies: >>11920
Holy shit I got banned for "troonfoiling" even though I was very obviously referring to the troons in the pics the anons and myself posted, not accusing the anons themselves of being trannies. And I didn't see the ban message because my IP is dynamic and I use incognito so when I made another post in a new session I got PERMABANNED for ban evasion. I appealed explaining that I didn't even know why I got banned because I couldn't see the first ban message, but this was before I checked my first offending post and realized the retarded reason. Now I can't appeal and explain that I wasn't calling anons troons (which should be common sense, mods are just retarded) Hope it ends up in Retarded Bans tbh because anyone with eyes and a brain can see that they misinterpreted my post in the worst way possible

using browser fingerprinting blocking techniques can actually make you more identifiable, especially if you're using some weird browser. if most people's browsers have common features that create their fingerprint, but you block them, you now have a distinctive pattern of blocked features instead of blending in. that said, lolcow's investigative abilities are not sophisticated at all and in the past they've even gotten fooled by people sharing the same vpn.

Oldmin seriously delayed finding a new admin when she wanted to quit because she said something along the lines of (not a direct quote), “there just aren't enough women who are good enough at computers to be able to do it,” yet in this thread alone there are 3 different anons who have set up their own IBs. not to mention it's not even rocket science anyways and oldmin herself couldn't figure out how to do anything but add some falling snowflakes that you couldn't turn off.
Replies: >>11921

I'm one of those anons. Running an IB on your local network and running one that's publically accessible and kind of controversial are two different things, to be fair. I mean, for TinyBoard all you do is clone the git and go to install.php. Vichan is nearly as easy. It isn't rocket science, ofc, you're right. But women who want to run a website and have the skills to do so aren't very common.
Honestly this was the same problem with Spinster (run by owner's scrote), Ovarit (assisted heavily by same scrote), and cliterati.club (admin didn't know what a CLI was, crashed the site twice by working with production code, spent donation money on $50 How2Linux book-- hey at least it's an all woman team?). Among that small population of women, you have to find one that'll agree to take on LC, which is apparently a huge pain in the ass judging by how overbearing the jannies are.

Oh yeah. It's old milk tho. When spinster first started it was MK and her scrote, Alex Gleason, running it. The fact that he was there was kind of controversial from the start and he did a bunch of dumb shit like say lesbians aren't real, women must like Andrew Yang because he likes cake, and other dumb scrotey shit I can't remember. He's also got your typicaly dudebro libertarian type views and contributed to Gab. I think he's contracted with them right now. He was eventually tucked away in a federated containment zone where he could scrotepost without interacting with the main group and embarassing MK.
One thing I noticed when I was first on spinster and later ovarit was that their server costs were super high and that never made sense to me. I think they were using a pleroma fork for spinster at first and then later Gleason's soapbox thing, but they were talking like they needed several thousands of dollars of server space every month. That always rubbed me the wrong way. VPS's aren't that expensive. My novelty pleroma (I let it die) was like $27 a year and I barely even needed that many resources. It just doesn't make sense to me that it could be several thousands of dollars for like 400 active users.

For sure, when small community sites start asking for fat wads of cash it doesn't inspire confidence. Either someone didn't know what they were doing and provisioned way too much shit (easy to do if they went with one of the big cloud providers), or they're doing some fuck-fuck math and pocketing the difference while internally justifying it as a labour cost. Tiny imageboards like this one and even CC (for example) shouldn't cost much at all to run, especially if they're okay with running a lean VPS behind clownflare's free plan. Not too fond of that clownflare business, myself, but it works for HKC, CC, and LC.

I don't know what's so hard to believe about this. An anon posted pictures of herself on a thread, other anons told her to stop posting because the EXIF data showed that she was living in a region of the UK with ~2 million people. Then, that anon overshared in another thread several times effectively eroding her anonymity. When called out for this, she revealed that she had been the one that posted her pics and she confirmed her location herself. The anon in question was an attentionwhore that basically revealed her own location because she was too stupid.

And yes, LC doesn't strip EXIF information. It's not like other ibs.

I downloaded the squirrel image and opened it in Photoshop. The EXIF viewer in Photoshop is more detailed than the default in windows. Luckily for you it's just a generic sRGB profile so all this really tells me is that you have a basic cheap monitor.

No but also yes, it had tons of moids raiding the site because the threads pissed them off and some newfags posted radfem/gc shit everywhere derailing threads until it started to be enforced that you can only post in gc/pinkpill threads as containment, and then the hidden board. Not to mention that with the banning of r/GenderCritical it brought a ton of newfag redditors that were spergy moralfags and criticizing everyone in unrelated threads for not being feminist enough.
The admin also had personal vendetta against the threads so when she did a vote for banning the threads, despite the majority of the users not wanting it banned she banned them and closed the hidden board. There was later drama with the admin being friendly with troons but I don't remember it clearly enough to describe it.

Yeah, atleast when there was a containment to point those anons to and other threads still seemed to be holding on, the moderation was also good at the time, the banning of the threads without those users having a home to migrate to made them spread out too much and stay in lc to point it became a whack-a-mole for moderators when spergery appeared in too many threads. I think it wasn't what killed /ot/ but it sure was the first major wound it suffered.

In my heart I know it's still 2024
It disappoints me that fucking newfags that can't just relax and have a conversation without infighting have resulted in harsher moderation being applied to the whole site, especially as the majority of these problems are confined to /ot/. Calling out moids and troons is now banned as scrotefoiling and troonfoiling because newfags couldn't understand that it's normal for women to have different opinions. Pink Pill, man hate and GC threads were banished to /2X/ because newfags couldn't contain themselves to the appropriate threads. Any political discussion or attempt at discussing world events turns into an instant infight because newfags can't agree to disagree and are incapable of debate without infighting. Now VPNs are being banned because newfags can't stop being shit flinging retards.

I was there for the start of LC and I've been using a VPN since 2017, now I'm going to completely lose the ability to post on the one website that I still bother to visit. I'm sure I'm not the one in this situation either.

I agree, during the pandemic it seems like new types of newfags were always sprouting up, the femcel larpers from tiktok, the twitter tryhards, and normies that somehow found LC?
I feel like most lc users left after that, or atleast don't feel comfortable posting the same way they posted back then with newfags sperging out over everything. The site hasn't been the same since, sometimes there's some flashes of life with tons of lols, but they're less and less. The VPN ban is just a band-aid solution to ban the personalityfag retards and baiters, but the truth is, back then anons would more likely clown on them or ignore over the absolute seethe derail that is modern LC.

I wouldn't mind if the VPN ban was just on /ot/. The board has been dumpster fire for years so I get why Cerbmin wants to do something drastic. I do think there's other methods that she should try because the VPN ban didn't solve the issue in it's entirety. Every time I went to /ot/ during the VPN ban, there was still bait, infighting and a fair amount of redtext.

>>12039
>I feel like most lc users left after that
To me it seems that older users just stopped posting on /ot/ because of the constant infighting. I only browse a few threads on /ot/ that aren't that active so aren't filled with bait. Anytime I try to get back into other threads I end up reporting bait and never joining the discussion because there's nothing to talk about, it's just retards posting bait and retards responding to it.

/ot/ has sucked for a long time. that's because inherently controversial threads metastasize when the infants on that board get triggered. vpn requirement only makes sense for hot topics, privacy shouldn't be blanket-banned for all the mundane and even wholesome threads on /ot/ just bc there are a handful poisoning the well. i mean it seems obvious to me.
and oh yeah, it's only gotten worse because of years of bad moderation. one-sided mod approach focuses on the with the bait or just a "wrong" opinion while newfags taking obvious bait and tattling to /meta/ usually don't even get a slap on the wrist. bait-taking should be a ban reason if they want to have a chance at breaking the cycle

I've tried posting from Firefox, and even installed Brave to try from there, but I still get that error. This didn't happen to me before the ban. I don't know if it's my system or the website that is at fault here. I'd try posting on CC just to make sure, but of course, CC is currently down. To be fair it was one of the admins, I can't remember exactly which one, it wasn't Shaymin or Cerbmin as it was a long time ago, that explained to me that it was a form of range block. It's been a feature of the site for a long time so it's not something Cerbmin has implemented and ranges may have been blocked by previous admins. The feature might even be broken in LC's spaghetti code site software. Burritomin kindly removed the block from the VPN range that I was using.

When I tried to find other people with the same problem on Linux forums, some of them, although their problem was not exactly the same (they were unable to load some websites from their Linux machine but not from Windows, while other Linux users didn't have any issues, same as me), solved their issue doing this. I just tried it, and it worked! I used an Android user agent. Why the fuck does this work, I don't know. Thank you! I'll report it as a bug.
I was reading the massive infight in the radfem cows thread yesterday, and one thing that I think a hidden board would be good for is that the really hardcore radfems in that thread who constantly derail to argue over theory would never be willing to move to an IB dedicated to cucking even on a completely separate board. Plus I doubt the newfags like Heterophobicdyke who always go to that to WK themselves/their friends and vendettafag people on tumblr who they argued with or whose opinions they just disagree with even know about this place. It would be 100% more peaceful on here. Which I'd love because the radfem community has some fun cows but unfortunately the LC thread is impossible to read between the infighting, derailing, WKing, vendettafagging, and general sperging.

That anon is spot-on. There used to be an IP-wipe when the board changed owners, but they randomly decided to drop that for oldmin because she said it would impede an investigation (Vicky I think? Don't follow that cow). Did they do IP-wipes for shaymin and cerbmin (seriously doubt it)?

An IP wipe happened at some point? I certainly don't recall it ever being mentioned when cerbmin took over, I even scanned the old /meta/ thread when they took over and I couldn't find anything. Anon's post got me thinking, all it would take is one fed up admin getting tired of being cyberbullied and dumping database with everyone's IP included. Then it gets archived forever for autists to pick over when they please.

Admittedly I might be catastrophizing at this point, I don't think there's a huge chance of that happening.

Who knows what the sub 80 iq bootlicking anons' motives are. They're mad at the lolcow hate thread on CC despite it only having 20 anons max posting in it per thread so a lolcow offshoot that was created because of how much anons dislike the current state of it (and CC anons who need a place to migrate) will probably make them just as cranky at the very least. Speaking of that thread, I swear to god that baiter who posted about how much they love to infight and bait was one of those anons trying to muddy the water and make legitimate concerns being posted seem like they were posted by problem anons. I'm not overly pro or anti ban, I'm just skeptical it's not even going to work and it'll just a unnecessary annoyance but the way the very overly pro ban anons talk makes me very suspicious and puts me off.

Nta but have you seen the state of the vent thread in the last several months. also some random infighting in the things that made you chuckle thread a few days ago, and the mundane thread a few hours ago. it's almost easier to list which threads *don't* have infighting kek

Speaking of a new board here. I could definitely volunteer to be the owner after that other nona seems to have gone MIA, I have the relevant credentials to take it up (technical knowledge, a strong understanding of IB culture, chronically online neet). However I know I don't have the right kind of personality to handle a leadership role which is why I didn't offer sooner, and especially when LC's board culture is as volatile as it is. I'd love to prove myself wrong, though. Just putting it out here before I actually commit to anything.

All the talk about linux makes me want to switch completely from windows. I have one windows desktop that I use for games mostly, but also for working from home. Every once in a while, win11 does something retarded and I want it gone, lol, but never pulled the trigger. I do have arch on my cheap laptop that I use for travel and used for school. I've just seen too many "don't update yet, there's an issue with the update" posts about arch and have had wifi drivers broken by updates before. But those hiccups never mattered because I could always fix it and had the desktop to use until it was fixed. Having arch on both... I can't have my main device end up jacked up by these cutting edge distros. I don't know, maybe I'm just anxious over nothing. I was thinking debian or ubuntu. At work we use rocky and ubuntu for servers. One other issue is that the desktop has an Nvidia gpu. Maybe I should just sell the desktop, stop gaming, and just build some intel gpu desktop mini or something. I dunno, what do nonnies here use? Does anyone use linux as a daily driver? Maybe I should just dual boot and just try stuff out.

Just jump ship, honestly. Windows has gone to shit a long time ago. I used to have a windows computer only for games too, but even that became too much to bear. These days I rely on wine for the stuff I pirate and for the most part, it just works. As for what I use, it also is Arch and I'm already found a script specifically for rolling back system updates for the times it breaks something.
I guess dual-booting is good to easy down the transition, you can slowly migrate your stuff from Windows until the day you realize you haven't booted it in like a month and decided to finally sever all ties with it. My switch was more sudden because it was very liberating for me lol, Windows made me endure so much bullshit before I realized I didn't have to put up with any of that just to use my computer that replacing it felt like escaping an abusive relationship.

I've been seeing more and more people hate windows with a passion and I hope we're entering a future where people stop using it. I see a lot of steam deck people asking for a desktop version of SteamOS (which is... arch, but they won't use arch for some reason). I was assigned a surface go at work and it came with win11, thing dragged like hell. It was nearly unusable. I was allowed to put Arch on it and it's really great to work with now, even the pen function works.

This could help. Too many of the new users need to learn2scroll but instead they engage with baiters and draw out the infighting.

I cloned my win11 installation in case I ever wanted to go back and then installed arch. Idk why I was so anxious, I felt so relieved. And I can always put that win11 image on a vm or something, but everything important was on nextcloud anyway. Such a relief to not have that crap on my machine anymore, and if it means I don't game anymore that's probably better for me anyway. I just have a hugely overpowered internet browsing machine now lol.

You could have windows VM with a GPU pass through. This is what I did. I have Arch as the main OS and then run Windows in a VM for when I need windows programs or want to play games. All you need is a multicore CPU powerful enough to run two OS at the same time (which you should already have), enough RAM, drive space because windows is bloated and a second GPU if you don't have an iGPU in your CPU. Nearly all hardware made in the last decade is compatible with virtualization. There's a guide on the Arch wiki on how to set it up.

Actually after I posted that, I was goofing off with wine and steam. Most of the Steam games I still play work, and I think with more fiddling I can get the rest to work, maybe with wine? I got another game I like to play to boot up with wine, but it crashed. It's from 2004 (sims 2 kek) so getting it to run on Windows was also sort of a headache. If I can get that to work, I'll be happy, but if I can't get it to work I will also move on and probably do something more productive with my time. Thanks nonnies!

AYRT. The Sims 2 is one of the games I play in a VM. There's several guides to get it working in wine on Ubuntu, you could just adapt these guides for Arch.
