>If you can [...] come up with a coherent board topic, certainly.
I hope this doesn't come across as bossy, but if you want actual suggestions for what the board for migratory farmers & miners might look like, here are my suggestions. I have thought about this for a few hours now, and I finally decided to write it down and post. Sorry if this post is long-winded and has confusing wording, it’s very late where I live and I just wanted to post this before I slept. If anyone else has any ideas or comments, please share them.
>Background info:
LC & CC are both female-only imageboards. They're similar in many ways, but different in others: both have similar cultures, but they differ in their themes. LC is a site for documenting lolcows that features a some off-topic boards, while CC is a site for casual conversations unrelated to drama. Both image boards struggle from lack of proper moderation, absent administrators, & poor quality posting. A lot of anons on both CC & LC are fed up with the issues. There are a lot more farmers than there are miners, because LC has held up better with age than CC has, so I think a specific board should be more influenced by LC culture than by CC culture. That's not to say that CC culture isn't important, but for the most part I'm writing this post from the perspective of a farmer first & a miner second. I haven't been on Junku before, but from what I've heard from the last bunker, the administration & moderation is excellent here, & in the few hours that I've spent on the site I've been impressed by the fast loading times, good site layout, & responsiveness of the administrator. I think this site actually presents a good opportunity for a migration opportunity for farmers & miners that are getting tired of the problems facing both LC & CC. I will go more in depth in this post about what issues might be found with this site, how we could alleviate those, and ideas for threads.
>Issues with this site on first look:
I haven't explored much of the site besides /shelter/, but from what I can gather this is an IB focused on pornography. Some farmers & miners might be alienated by the fact , but personally I don't really care. So this site has porn, okay, whatever. As long as porn wasn't posted in the new board for us, that wouldn't be an issue. Two communities can exist on the same site, even if they have opposing viewpoints on certain topics. Another issue that might arise is that this board, from what I can see, is very slow. From what I gather, I don't think many people are aware of this site's existence nor do many people frequent this place. This might present an issue for us because the new board may be quite slow at first, but, I do have some ideas to help mediate this problem that I will present later. The third glaring issue for many of us would be that the admin here, whom I will refer to as Webmin, is a moid. This may be a deal-breaker for some, & for others it might inspire feelings of discomfort. Personally, I don't really care. I'd rather have an administrator that is responsive & actually good at his job than an absent administrator that refuses to mingle with the user-base. My policy is: don't ask, don't tell. I don't care if Webmin runs a porn ib, because as long as we could have our own space here where we can be free to post in peace without having to be exposed to the pornography. So far, Webmin has been very responsive and seems like a kind moid. Although very rare, sometimes some moids can be okay people (historical examples include Jesus Christ, the Buddha, and Mao Zedong). I think the positives of the migration to this place would outweigh these issues, especially if the board is crafted in a specific way to foster the LC/CC way of life. The other issue I can foresee is a lack of dedicated staff; I believe Webmin is located in India, which is on the opposite side of the world from most anons. That means when he's asleep and the board isn't moderated, that's when it will be more active. Webmin has said that he improve moderation, so it's not that big of a deal; we'll have to cross the bridge when we come to it.
>How the new board for us could look:
<1. Board-specific rules that follow the LC/CC culture
I read through the global rules for this site, & I'm sure they're good for what the site is right now, but we'd definitely need more rules for the new board. I think the new rules would have to be strict at first to create a cohesive culture & to assure a smooth experience for anons migrating over. Some rules that I think could benefit this specific board are:
>A ban on creation of new threads.
I think that while the migratory community on JC is still at it's infancy stage, there should be a ban on new thread creation. Threads should be very general. The reasoning for this will be explained later in this post.
>A ban on racebaiting.
Racebaiting, at least on LC, means bringing up race or having racially-charged discussions. The reason it was banned to begin with is because the majority of time, talking about race really is just a bait topic meant to start an infight. Racebaiting in this context also refers to discussions on religion, nationality, colour, or creed. We’re on an anonymous IB, nobody should really care what colour your skin is or what God you worship.
>A ban on all NSFW content.
This would include sexually-charged comments, sexually explicit images, & other sexual content. This might seem puritanical, but I think that it would be essential for creating a comfortable environment for anons to enjoy. This is a porn ib, I get that, but surely there can be one board where NSFW is frowned upon for the comfort of its inhabitants.
>A ban on infighting, samefagging, doubleposting, a-logging, taking the bait, & other social faux pas.
I didn't see these included in the global rules, but it's a no-brainer that they'd apply to this board. Since this place bans VPNs (I assume so because I've tried many different networks, but none will allow me to post), it will actually be very easy to remove the retards. Infighting is one of the main reasons LC is so desolate now; it seems like the majority of users on the site (yet none of the honest and true users like those in these bunkers) solely post for the purpose of baiting for infights to be annoying. Infighting is so juvenile, and if you’re over the age of 20 I hope you feel the same as I do: elimination of infighting should be one of the top priorities. If you’re one of the few weirdos that enjoy infighting, you can do all that on LC with the other baiters, no judgement on you but LC (at least /ot/) is basically the infighting IB now anyway.
>No moids.
Obviously this is contradictory, with Webmin being a moid and all, but I think he should be the only moid allowed to preserve the female-oriented cultures of LC & CC. I think the biggest issue with this rule may be that Webmin might be unfamiliar with how to identify male vs. female posting habits and styles, so it might be hard for him to properly moderate this. Still, it should be advertised as a female-only board, and talking as if you were a moid should result in a ban. Revealing yourself as a moid should also be bannable.
>No talking about moids at all
I think this would be the most important rule. So many anons are tired of hearing constant moid talk on both CC & LC, whether it be complaints about nigels (this means boyfriend in our lingo, Webmin), or complaining about ugly men, or lusting after pretty men, it’s almost always: men, men, men! it's just annoying for those of us that aren’t male-centred. It would be great if this was a female-oriented board that was FEMALE-ONLY. This rule would not apply to either the Husbando Thread, or the Cows thread, which will be elaborated on later in this post. I think if we eliminated moid-talk completely, it would be beneficial for the community.
>No talking about kpop, yaoi, or yuri.
These topics always seem to bring actual retarded people that fling their shit everywhere and make everything smelly and bad. I think banning them would be for the best. They already have their own IBs focused on these topics anyway.
>Non-appealable 2-day ban for any infraction.
[NOTE: I have not been banned here yet, I’m not sure what the moderation even looks like yet, this is just what I think would be a good way to go about it.] This might seem harsh, but I think it’s really necessary to have long, non-appealable bans. To create a positive environment that is enjoyable for users, bans should be harsher than on LC. Usually on LC, bans last anywhere from 3-24 hours. Most people evade these bans immediately through use of VPN, but thankfully it seems like VPNs are banned on this site. I think that if a player receives a 2-day ban, it will cut down on the any rule breaking anons by a lot. I also think that after a few times, it should just end with a personal ban. The whole reason LC & CC went to shit is because administration and staff refuse to gatekeeper the sites, they don’t protect the culture, and they don’t have any real tools to punish rule-breakers. At a certain point, it becomes obvious that certain users are just retarded: they’ll never change their annoying infighting ways and they’ll never become valuable community member:
<2. Generalized Threads over Niche Threads
I think the main problem with CC is that the threads are a bit too specific. Since CC is a slower board with less traffic, what ends up happening is there are hundreds of threads with super specific themes that have 1-10 replies each. It makes the website seem more dead than it actually is, because everyone is spread thin across a wide area. If we could have generalized threads with broad topics, they would most likely move faster and get more traction. Since the community is still small here, it would be better for us to coalesce in a few threads for now so that the speed of the board isn’t compromised.
Some ideas for threads could include:
>Dumbass Shit
A free for all thread that functions as a general chatroom thread. There is no specific theme for the thread; a place to post when your post doesn't fit anywhere else. I assume it would be very similar to how this thread feels now.
>Husbando Posting
A thread for anons to post & gush about their husbandos. Following the rules against 3DPD, only 2D husbandos will be allowed. Following the board rule against NSFW, no super sexual content should be posted about husbandos either. IMO, the anons that go crazy sexual for their husbandos in the threads on LC are doing so for attention & that shouldn't be encouraged here. There are lots of ways to gush about your husbando without it becoming gross & sexualized.
>Vent & Advice
A place for anons to vent their emotions, problems, or life difficulties & for others to comfort them. Asking for advice & giving advice are very similar thematically, so it makes sense they'd go in the same thread.
>General Print Media
A place for anons to discuss anything related to print media: this includes books, comics, manga, visual arts, etc..
>General Moving Media (I don’t know what to call it besides “moving” media my mind is pulling a blank)
To compliment the print thread, this one would be for anons to discuss anything that's 'moving' media, i.e., anime, movies, television shows, youtube videos, video games, etc.
>Hobbies & Interests
A place for anons to discuss anything related to their hobbies or interests. There are a wide array of hobbies and interests, but on CC/LC, they’re often separated into different threads (i.e., an arts and crafts thread, a drawing thread, a poetry thread, etc.), but I think having them all in one thread would be just as good.
>Health, Wellness, & Beauty
A thread for discussing the namesake: anything related to physical & mental health, nutrition, fitness, skincare, or makeup.
>Music
A thread for posting song lyrics, sharing songs, talking about instruments or music.
>LC & CC Hate
Obviously, in the beginning anons will be using JC alongside LC & CC. A LC & CC hate thread would allow anons to vent their frustrations with their respective IBs in a judgment-free zone, free of jannylovers or adminapologists. Talking about shared enemies could be a good bonding exercises for a lot of the jaded farmers and miners that find this board, specifically because the LC Hate thread on CC is one of their most popular threads.
>General Cows
A generalized thread for people to post all cows in. Let's face it: there are not many real cows left anymore. Most of the cows on LC that are super popular are dry as hell, & the only reason they're still discussed is because certain spergs have a neurotic hate-obsession with them. Having 1 thread for all cows might seem confusing at first, but I think after a period of adjustment it will be good. It might be a bit hard to read, so maybe a rule specific for this thread could be that we'd use the name function to tag which post is which cow. I.e., if I wanted to post milk from PT, I'd write "PT" in the name tag. If I was replying to that milk post with a non-contribution comment, I'd just leave the name blank & sage. I doubt that thread will ever compare to the cow boards on LC, but this board doesn’t really have to be for cows, but it might be fun to have a thread for them here anyway, it would be a good place to scope out calfs too. I envision that this board would simply take the place of CC, and /ot/, /g/, and /m/ on LC, but LC’s cow boards would still be used for cow discussion, naturally, as there’s more history on that site.
>Talk to Webmin Thread
Webmin seems very kind, and so far he seems very responsive to anons inquiries and concerns. It would be a good idea to have a thread on the board so that we can easily communicate issues, suggestions, or questions without having to him without leaving the board. On the flip side, it’d be good to have a place where Webmin can post for us to see directly in case of announcements or other important messages.
>A sticky thread with replies turned off listing the specific board rules.
<3. How would this board be disseminated?
This is probably one of the harder questions that I’m not really sure the answer to. You ever notice that during these bunkers, the threads are always so happy and jovial? Save for the few random spergs that show up now and then, these bunker threads are always so fun. I think part of the reason for this is because not many people know about these bunker thread sites, or at least, most of the more annoying, manipulative, retards that spend day and night infighting in Unpopular Opinions don’t know about these threads. This is a good thing. I already saw someone post about this site on the CC bunker thread on LC, which is a good example of why we need to express caution when doing so. There are other more discreet ways for sharing this site (i.e., sharing with friends you met from Friend Finder, sharing with the Moovie Night Ladies, etc.,) rather than posting it directly to LC or CC. Doing that would make it so much easier for the social undesirables to find us, but, the good news about this is that +VPNs seem to be banned here.+ I cannot express how much of a game-changer that is. We won’t have to deal with annoying ban evaders for months on end; the Webmin can just banish the annoying fuckers.

>If you can keep a thread going for a few days...
This is the thing: I think you'd have to set a board up beforehand, and create those threads (including some that other anons suggest, I'm sure there's a few ideas that I missed), only then would people really come here. It's like we're rats and you have to lure us in with a really good piece of cheese. I understand that that's a lot to ask, but I'm just being realistic. You'd have to create at least the framework for what we could become.
<Again, sorry for the long post!
I just seriously started thinking about this because the past year has been such a shit show on /ot/. It's been a shitshow on CC for way longer. This is the first site that I came across that actually has a responsive administrator that seems to want to welcome new users. Sorry for the sperg out! I just needed to say it or else I would have regretted it.
