arrr, all me projects be put on hold while I be tryin' to catch up on home maintenance 'n improvement. I be hopin' one day I can comprehend drywall 'n how to fix it without makin' everythin' look awful 'n creatin' a massive mess. (not my photo, ofc)

Arrr, Nonnie! Ye be in luck, for ye be dealin' with an expert here. I've sailed the seven seas and faced this problem many a time, matey. Here be the solution: ye just put a picture over the hole, and then there be no hole at all! It be a simple trick, but it works like a charm every time, arr!

ahoy, me hearties!
i have tried making a fumo doll before and it KINDA worked
she came out a bit wrong bc i drew the patterns by hand, but you'd recognize her as a fumo if you saw her
i didn't make any clothes bc i was gonna fix my pattern first, but then i never got around to it
and i didnt embroider her face, i just drew it with a sharpie since that was a trial run
i also didnt fill her with cotton balls, i used old rags instead
so yea, she is fucked up through and through, just like me
that was like 1 year ago, maybe more
long ago enough that her face is already fading
(no pics bc its so bad its embarrassing)
but hey, if i squish her just right, i can make her sit without a support!
i kinda wanna get back into this project, but not really, dollmaking is a pain in the ass
too many small pieces to stitch
and simpler designs kinda suck ngl

ye savvy, me-nonnie! i'm sure it's cute and if she's a bit deformed it's okay bcs she was made with love. you could make a collection of kinda uncanny fumos that all look a bit funny!
Replies: >>29
>>26
no one ever told me about the goofy elongated butts fumos have, I had to see it for myself. they're all a bit deformed I think.
Replies: >>33
>>29
yea it looks a bit weird, but it makes sense
the fumos are designed to sit on their own, so it kinda has to be like that
for example, the legs are attached to the front of the crotch rather than the bottom, so they are always in a sitting position
the butte sticks out if you try to make them stand up, thats p funny

D'aw thank you nona ♡ I'm also trying to figure out how to make her more expressive without changing too much of her facial structure. Also if anyone wants to play around with this design, feel absolutely free.
She also needs a name, hmm...
Replies: >>212

idk why i 'he'd' her... i'm sorry nonnies, a severe lapse in my judgement. she's so cute i'll try to brainstorm some names!

yaargh what a cutie she is!! i've thought a bit about names for a board mascot/tan, and one ideas that i came up with is naming her after the female pirate anne bonny! she was based as hell because she ditched her boring husband to be a pirate, was openly female in a male dominated environment that usually frowned upon girls yet still managed to be greatly respected, and beat the shit out of a rapist! i just thought that it might be a cool reference that the fellow privateers might appreciate idk lol

Thank you so much nonnies! I was definitely thinking about Cece while drawing her.
Also it's been really funny seeing privateers creep into the draw board, and all the art I've seen was really good. We have so many talented artfags here.

evolution of the pirate
i like to imagine that pirate tan has horns as a sort of allusion to lc that she usually prefers to hide under her hat
>>1133
THIS IS SO CUTE YES
>>1133
I adore her, this is wonderful nona 😍
Knitting pattern gauge swatch wants a #9 needle on worsted weight. 16 sts, 22 rows for a 4" square. If I want to use #6 instead my gauge is 22 sts and 28 rows for a 4" square... Then I just need to adjust the CO for the width, right? #9 seems way too big for worsted.

Oh this is delightful! I like how the hat somewhat incorporates a horn shape.

Yarr-tan looks sort of similar 2X, you think she was an off-shoot of another hidden board before freeing herself to the seven seas?

Missing /sty/chan?!

How hard is it to convert patterns worked flat into circular?
Replies: >>3626
>>3610
I think it really depends on what you’re making and the techniques involved. When in the round you’re only working the front side, so you would have to read every other row backwards. If there’s lacework it could be challenging to figure out the reverse version of stitches. One seam typically take 2 stitches, so you would have to subtract those for however many seams from each row. Also nona you can work flat with circular needles if you need to!

Thank you nonnie. I was about to post that I've accepted my fate to knit flat and seam. I was thinking trying slip stitch seaming instead of mattress stitch https://www.lavisch.com/site/tutorial-seaming-with-slip-stitch/

I think I'll enjoy that better.

Dyeing wool today. Gonna make an apple hat and a pumpkin hat for a baby so leaf green, apple green, and pumpkin orange (not pictured). Was gonna make a red apple too but... no red food coloring. Dyeing solids isn't as fun as variegated but it's still neat to watch the wool soak up the dye bath.

Here's all the colors I ended up with. I meant to make black but I ended up with a steel gray kind of looking color. I ran out of black food coloring... But the color I got is still pretty cool. I just don't know what I'm going to make out of it. I was going to make a cow onesie. I guess I can always over dye it.
