Yeah I could never personally kill any of the poultry that my family raises. My mom and dad are usually responsible for taking care of that, and I'm very thankfully that they do the gross stuff because I could never kek.
It is really nice having your own meat to eat though because you know everything that went into raising it, so you don't have to speculate about what their living conditions were like or what they were eating before they died. My family also raises pigs and cows, but those are sent off to slaughter houses because they're way too big to care care of ourselves. I've had to learn not to get too attached to any of our animals though. When my family first started raising livestock when I was maybe 10 or so I ended up really loving our pigs, so when they had to go away I cried a lot. I still miss Wilbur a bit, she was my favorite pig...
